Explore the videos that celebrated Kevin’s life

Kevin Kwai Tang

April 4, 1956 - July 11, 2025, Celebration of Life

PROGRAM

@alanbarnettphoto ‍

The Celebration was kicked off with the song “Smile” by Charlie Chaplin, and performed by Tony Waag and Jess Jurkovic. I chose this because Kevin always lead with his smile. And like the song, Kevin always kept a positive outlook no matter what life threw at him.

I asked the multi-talented Tony Waag to host the night and walk my guests through a life worth celebrating – the life of Kevin Kwai Tang. The above video, filmed by Kevin’s brother KW Low, showcases Tony and Jess’ brilliant opening.

With the help from a little technology and the words of Selina Chong, myself – Richard Shuback as well as many in the audience we remembered a man that was truly loved.

Kevin’s passing was a huge loss for all of us. But on this night his love, happiness and generosity were just a few of the many gifts and memories that brought us all together.

Smile

This first video was created by Kevin’s sister Selina in collaboration with me and AI. It takes us through his life journey from his humble beginnings in Malaysia to his success in New York. Unfortunately Selina, her husband Paul and his mother weren’t unable to make it but shout out to his brother KW and partner Jon who came in all the way from LA to represent the family.

Kevin’s Life Journey

Many attendees wanted to say a few words. In this next video, family and close friends share their thoughts. Time did not allow for us to show the individual contributions in their entirety but they have all been posted unedited here in Tributes.

Thank You

Kevin is smiling knowing how much love was in the room.

Although we all lost our dear Kevin please know that the team at NYU Langone Clinical Cancer Center did everything they could to battle his lung cancer. From clinical trials to the latest in technology and experts that are sought after throughout world, we were lucky to have these outstanding physicians and caregivers with us through his entire journey and we couldn’t be more grateful.

Special thanks to: Dr Elaine Shum and her incredibly talented team.

Although Kevin wasn’t overtly religious he lived his life through the lens of someone who cared deeply about people, animals and our planet. The tributes made at temples churches and organizations in his name touched my heart and no doubt touched his soul.

Thank you to Neide & Andrew, Alan & Sheon, The Chong family, Jim & Judy, Ann, Jim & Celeste and anyone else who has lit incense or a candle or made a donation in Kevin’s name.
